How to ask for directions

We will focus on 3 main verbs that will help us ask for directions:

 
• estar
 
• ir
 
• llegar

Here are some examples:          Perdón, ¿dónde está la plaza?          Disculpe, ¿cómo llego a la plaza?          Perdón, ¿cómo puedo ir a la Catedral?Now that you know how to ask the question, it's important to be able to understand the answer. Let's take a look at vocabulary related to indications:

 
• Recto/derecho - straight
 
• Derecha/a la derecha - right, to the right
 
• Izquierda/a la izquierda - left, to the left
 
• Gira a la derecha - turn to the right
 
• Gira a la izquierda - turn to the left
 
• En la esquina - on the corner
 
• Cruzar la calle - cross the street
 
• Entre las calles - between the streets
 
• Cuadras - blocks
