¡Hola amigos! Bienvenidos a la lección de hoy. Hoy vamos a ver mi tema favorito. ¡Ir de compras!
Going Shopping!
Doesn't everyone like going shopping?I think so - creo que si.Last time we learned how to ask for directions. Now, we're going to learn how to use those directions to find places to shop! Primero empecemos con vocabulario - vo-ca-bu-la-rio ¿Dónde vas de compras?Where do you go shopping?
- Podría ser (could be):
- Centro comercial - shopping center/mall
- Tienda departamental - department store
- Supermercado - supermarket/grocery store
- Zapatería - shoe store
Before buying something you might want to ask how much it costs in case it's too expensive - muy caro (and you can start negotiating)Or, buy it straight away in case it's very cheap - muy barato. Do you know what question word to use to ask “how much”Take a look at these options:
- ¿cómo?
- ¿dónde?
- ¿cuándo?
- ¿cuánto cuesta?
It is: ¿cuánto cuesta?Take a look at these shoes - zapatos - Za-pa-tosCan you ask how much they cost? ¿Cuánto cuestan estos zapatos?Let's analyze this a little further:Why do we use cuestan and not cuesta?Because zapatos is in plural. In singular we would ask: ¿Cuánto cuesta esta camisa? How much does this shirt cost?Did you also notice there is a new word? esta/este : this (feminine/masculine) estas/estos: these (feminine/masculine)We can also use: esa/ese: that (feminine/masculine) esas/esos: those (feminine/masculine)Let's take a look at this pen - pluma - plu-ma ¿Cuánto cuesta esta/esa pluma? Now it's your turn!Take a look at the picture, can you ask how much it costs?
Great! You got it right! ¿Cuánto cuesta ese/este sombrero? Ahora ya sabes cómo preguntar cuánto cuesta algo. Now you know how to ask how much something costs.Thank you for joining me today!
